President Bush Eats Pasco Asparagus

WASHINGTON D.C.-- President Bush showed his appreciation for the hard working farmers of Washington State in a letter to U.S. Senator Patty Murray.

Bush tried asparagus from Gourmet Trading in Pasco and said it is some of the best spears in the world. This was after Senator Murray sent him 10 lbs of asparagus to remind him that ours is the best.

"I am delighted that the President took the time to taste Washington asparagus, there is no doubt that once he had a chance to see what it tasted like he would know that we make the best asparagus and grow the best asparagus in the entire world, " said Murray.

Senator Murray sent him the asparagus after he told German Chancellor Angela Merkel at a state dinner that he liked the German white asparagus they had that night. The President thanked Murray for reminding him about Washington's crop.
